ABSOLUTE FIRE BAR KING

Current bid: $3,500.00

FIRE BAR KING — “KING 15.3 hands 2015 AQHA gelding Big, stout, roan, gentle, and carrying years of experience — King is the kind of gelding that has made a living taking people horseback and knows his job mighty well. Fire Bar King, better known around the ranch as King, is a registered AQHA roan gelding with plenty of bone, shape, and substance. He is a big, stout-made horse with that good old-fashioned Quarter Horse look, a kind eye, and plenty of presence underneath a saddle. King has the pedigree to go along with him, too. His papers carry some recognizable Quarter Horse names, including Fire Water Flit and Flit Bar influence on the top side, along with Two Eyed Jack, Watch Joe Jack, Two ID Bartender, and Mr Baron Red breeding through his pedigree. It is a nice combination of performance and using-horse blood, and King certainly has the size, bone, and substance to show for it. But where King has really earned his stripes is through years of experience as a dude-string horse. This gelding has carried all kinds of riders and traveled countless miles. He knows how to settle into a ride, pay attention to where he’s going, and make a long day horseback enjoyable. That kind of experience is hard to duplicate, and it shows in King’s quiet, easygoing way of doing things. King rides out alone just fine, but he especially enjoys riding with company. With his dude-string background, he naturally settles into the group and is perfectly content cruising along behind another horse. He isn’t worried about being first or turning the ride into a race. He finds his place in the string, relaxes, and follows right along wherever the trail takes you. Put him in the middle or let him bring up the back and King is right at home. He stays with the group and is happy to let another horse pick the way while he carries his rider along. For someone who likes to ride with their spouse, friends, or family, that is a pretty darn nice quality. And if nobody else is riding that day, saddle him up and go anyway. King will leave the other horses and head out on his own. He simply prefers that easygoing spot in the string when company is along — something he learned through years of doing his job. King has traveled plenty of country. He handles water, bridges, rocks, logs, brush, hills, narrow trails, uneven footing, and rough terrain. He has the miles underneath him to understand how to navigate a trail without making everything a big production. Gentle is another word that fits King mighty well. He has spent years carrying different people and has a sensible, forgiving nature. He is a big horse with plenty underneath you, but he is not an intimidating horse to be around or ride. He’s comfortable just walking along and enjoying the day. And don’t mistake his dude-string background for a horse that only knows how to follow a trail. King rides very nicely in the arena. He walks, trots, and lopes comfortably, takes his leads, stops, backs, and handles around nicely. He has taught many beginner’s the ropes he’s gentle and easy in every way. He has a good foundation and is enjoyable to ride whether you’re spending the afternoon at home or heading out for a full day on the trail. King is the kind of gelding that makes a lot of sense for someone looking for size, gentleness, experience, and dependability. He’s big and stout enough to comfortably carry a larger rider, yet easygoing enough that you don’t have to be an accomplished horseman to enjoy him. He’ll head out alone when it’s just the two of you. When your friends come along, let him find his comfortable spot in the group and enjoy the ride. Bring him home and ride him around the arena the next day. Fire Bar King is a big, handsome roan with good papers, a gentle disposition, and years upon years of useful miles. He’s spent a lot of his life carrying people down the trail, and he’s mighty good at it. Longhorn Ranch Paicines, California Dina — 831•537•1915 Come meet King in person or schedule a FaceTime visit.
