Brown Bear

Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see? I see the most versatile little horse looking at me!! At 7 years old this 14.1hh crossbred gelding has truly done it all! This boy was rounded up as a youngster in Idaho. Then broke and trained by 23-time NRF champion Shawn Minor. Shawn used him in just about every aspect of ranch and rodeo work. Bear has been hauled all over, yes he loads and hauls great, and has been used on family camping trips in various state parks. Out on the trails, he’s not one to be phased by woods, water, cracking brush, wildlife, or any other obstacles you may encounter. Bear has been ridden in a local parade with plenty of traffic sirens, people noises, and even carried a flag. He has also been used in calf brandings where he would rope and drag the calf to the branding pit and help hold it as the cowboys did the branding. He’s no stranger to a days work and is happy to do it. Bear has also been started as a rodeo pick up horse where his job was to follow the bucking horse and grab the cowboy. He’s not bothered by any of this. He has also been trick roped off of by Shawn’s son and, let me tell you, they can sure put on a show! Bear now lives at a primarily English/western lesson barn where he has been working in the arena. Bear will walk, trot, and lope right out of his tracks. The breaks are also good. He has slow and steady gaits. He has a solid one-hand neck rein and will work on and off of your seat and leg with ease. Bear has recently been starting his work under English tack and shows great potential over fences. He jumps in great form and he aims to please. He’s more of a laid back push ride to the jumps and holds a steady canter around a course. He is not spooky and will not rush the jumps. On the ground he’s a very inquisitive guy. He stalls with no vices. He also loves his turn out time and plays very well with other horses and ponies. This is a very special guy who has been trained by some of the best hands in the Midwest!
