Johnny Ringo

This 4 year old Draft X Gypsy cross gelding is the absolute epitome of a trail boss and is as gentle and sweet as the day is long. Johnny is a barn favorite with his teddy bear personality, unique coloring and breathtaking size/build standing at 15.2 hands. You will be hard pressed to find another with his demeanor and eye appeal this guy is an undeniably a crowd favorite where ever we go!!!!! This gelding is the kind to get you noticed out on the trail or in the arena for sure. He stands tied single or on cross ties and loves being groomed and pampered. He is good with handling his hooves, bathes and stands quietly for the farrier and vet to work on him. Johnny loads into any style trailer and hauls to new places quietly- unloads relaxed and will stand tied to the trailer all day patiently. Johnny both rides and drives single or double. He is easy to hitch and calm in the cart, he will walk over the pole to be driven double and he handles working on the farm or being driven out on the road with traffic like a champ! Under saddle Johnny is very very quiet, he is a more whoa then go personality but will walk, trot and canter when asked, he has an excellent stop, he backs up and he knows how to side pass and leg yield in both directions. He is soft laterally and takes both leads without any issues, he’s comfortable being ridden english or western and doesn’t mind being ridden bareback either. Johnny has been hauled off property for several events and was a gentleman for everything we threw at him. Johnny enjoyed the outdoor obstacle horse park where he saw many new to him challenges and was cool and collected taking on each new obstacle- moving bridges, teeter totter, cowboy curtain, ponds and so much more were a breeze for this fun gelding. He also went to a cow sorting with me and was great at pushing and moving fresh cows in and out of the pens for competitors. Johnny loves kids and spent his time not pushing cows giving pony rides to everyone’s kiddos at the competition with as many as three kids on his back at one time he remained the steady Eddie soul he always is! I’ve also hauled him to trail ride at new places and he never disappoints, he easily trucks down the trail and is fine crossing water, logs, rocks and ravines, he will ride the hard road and allow cars to pass by without batting an eye. He is a great trail blazer and doesn’t mind leading the group to do some off roading even in sketchy terrain this boy stays calm and sure footed and will go wherever you point his nose. Johnny doesn’t mind riding alone or in a group and will take the lead or follow behind, he is safe with horses riding up on him or along side of him, no bite or kick. Johnny is quiet in his stall and great turned out in a mixed herd and is easy to catch. Johnny Ringo would make an excellent trail horse to anyone looking for a big beautiful horse that is quiet and versatile to new surroundings. I think he could be a huge asset to a therapy program as well he’s very easy going and tolerable of anything you do on his back and is an ideal size to carry kids or adults- he is comfortable with side walkers and gentle for handlers.
