We are thrilled to present Mooney, a remarkable chestnut 9-year-old (2014) 12.1hh barefoot gelding known at the shows by
the enchanting levitation spell, “Wingardium Leviosa” (Lifetime USEF is 5759829). Mooney is a stunning Dales pony mix, making him a true gem in the equestrian world. In January 2021, Mooney joined a professional hunter/jumper training program. Since then, he has showcased his incredible talent, comfortably jumping up to 2 feet in both hunter and eventer arenas. Over the past 2.5 years, Mooney has been ridden by three different young junior riders across various divisions, proving his adaptability and versatility. Noteworthy achievements include Mooney’s 7th place in the prestigious Kentucky Hunter Jumper Association Short Stirrup Hunter division (2-foot) in 2021. In 2022, he secured the title of Ohio Hunter Jumper Association Cross Rail Champion, Kentucky Hunter Jumper Association Cross Rail Champion, as well as the year-end Cross Rail Champion at the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio. Mooney also claimed an honorable 5th place in the Future Hunter (18”) divisions in 2022 for the Ohio Hunter Jumper Association. Impressively, he has excelled in eventing too, being crowned the Cross Rail Champion at the Camargo Hunter Trials in Cincinnati, Ohio, in both 2021 and 2022. Additionally at Camargo Hunter Trials, Mooney triumphed as the Beginner Horse 2022 Champion (2-foot). Beyond his impressive competition record, Mooney is a barn favorite, stealing hearts wherever he goes. Approaching his stall, he eagerly pokes his head out, seeking connection and affection from his human companions. He has a special affinity for children, making him an ideal companion for young riders. He is the go-to lead line pony for the toddlers. Furthermore, Mooney displays excellent social skills in the field, harmoniously mingling with other horses and ponies. Catching him is a breeze, and he loads and unloads into trailers with ease. With impeccable ground manners, he is a joy to work with, displaying no signs of kicking, biting, or bucking. Mooney stands calmly for hoof picking and farrier visits without any concerns. As an easy keeper, Mooney requires minimal effort to maintain his health. He has clean x-rays and boasts a clean bill of health, free from injuries. While some show prep is needed (lunging and Perfect Prep), his immense potential is undeniable. His remarkable foot tuck and effortless jump, coupled with his rhythmic trot and canter, make him a true standout in the ring. Mooney also shines during trail rides, displaying confidence and cooperation whether alone or in the company of fellow equines. Most jumping lessons end with a cool down walk where the junior rider will go bareback on Mooney. Mooney’s ideal match is a junior rider enrolled in a professional training program, seeking to excel at cross rails and begin moving up to the 2-foot divisions.
